Random Acts of Kindness/Holiday Tips

Yeah I know, that title is WAY overused, but I was thinking about it the other day and thought I would share it as we go into the holiday season.
I consider the Smallest thing to be a random act of kindness and here are some of my ideas....

If you are in a store @ the mall, consider doing these:

• Fold that shirt you unfolded, someone has to fold it later anyway
• Bring you clothes out of the fitting room on hangers and folded nicely
• Let someone cut in front of you if they only have one item
• If someone can't reach something, help them out
• Don't be in such a hurry--enjoy the craziness!
• Let that lady w/ the 5 kids take the better parking spot-you probably need the exercise anyway
• Give to the Giving Tree-but this time give a gift to a Teenager or a Senior Citizen. Your kids will think its cool
• Donate a few bucks for that "free" gift wrapping you take advantage of, someone had to buy the wrapping paper
• Don't torment your kids by bringing them to the mall--do THEM a favor and leave them at home
• Take advantage of the Midnight shopping hours-beating the crowds is so worth it!
• Those early morning specials on the day after Thanksgiving--they usually last ALL day. Go later for the small stuff
• Think before you buy--Does the person whom you are buying for REALLY need what you have in your hand? Or are you just getting it because its "such a good deal"?
• Don't pay w/ a Credit Card--trust me you'll regret it later
• Take things off hangers while you are waiting in line--they are going take them off anyway
• Have your check ready if you are paying with a check (if you are CRAZY and pay that way) the people behind you in line will appreciate it
• Know if you want a gift receipt and separate the items you want on gift receipts. It annoys everyone in line when you wait till the transaction is done to say, "Oh I need a gift receipt!"
• Get a gift receipt! That snowflake sweater is not going to be $39 after Christmas
• Sometimes the smallest present means so much
• Hum along to the c-mas music in the stores--it feels so good!
• Enjoy the decor- they decorated w/ you in mind
• Give to the person ringing the bell outside in the freezing cold, your quarter makes a difference
• Give your scarf away to someone that really needs it
• If someone gets stuck in the snow or can't start their car, don't stare & think that's too bad, help them. have supplies in your car for these situations
• Open the door for people
• Let the elderly person go into the bathroom first-you can probably hold it better
• Help that person w/ the Stroller
• Remember that fads come and go, but family will always be there
• Sometimes the classics really are priceless
